Spirituality Linked to Better Health in Arthritis
 (Reuters Health, 1/21/02)

Professor Susan J. Bartlett and her colleagues at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore studied patients with rheumatoid arthritis and found that "more spiritual" individuals (who were "likely to attend church, pray and read the Bible") were better able to cope with chronic illness. The "spiritual" subjects of the study reported more positive thoughts and rated themselves healthier and less disabled than their "less spiritual" counterparts.
