Some Women
May Be at Greater Risk from Hair Dye
(New York, Reuters Health, 4/10/02)
Dr. Manuela Gaga-Dominguez, a researcher at the Keck School
of Medicine and Norris Comprehensive Cancer Clinic at the
University of Southern California in Los Angeles, reports that
some women may have a greater risk of developing bladder
cancer from permanent hair dye because their bodies are
genetically programmed to eliminate arylamines, a carcinogen
in hair dye, at a slow rate. |
