S. California First to Ban Cleaning Solvent

The South Coast Air Quality Management District, which covers the greater Los Angeles area, voted to impose the first-ever US ban on the cleaning solvent, perchloroethylene (perc). While these officials cite health concerns, drycleaners protest their decision, saying that this ban will put them out of business because they cannot sustained the increased costs of working with new, unproven technologies.
