Find Another Reason to Eat Broccoli
(Washington, Reuters Health, 5/28/02)
Scientists from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and
the French National Scientific Research Center, found that a
substance associated with broccoli's distinctive flavor may
kill the bacteria that has been implicated in stomach cancer
and ulcers. Jed Fahey, a plant physiologist from Johns Hopkins
University, sees "significant public health implications" for
this food, which may kill the Helicobacter Pylori bacteria
without the harmful side effects of antibiotics. |
