Red Meat Gene Linked with Prostate Cancer in Study

Johns Hopkins University researchers, Dr. Angelo De Marzo and William Isaacs, have found that the gene which produces an enzyme that breaks down the AMACR fatty acid molecule in the digestion of red meat, is highly active in prostate cancer cells. While the AMACR gene is a marker for prostate cancer, the researchers say that it is too early to conclude that eating red meat causes the cancer.
