Red Meat Increases Risk of Colorectal Cancer
 (HealthScoutNews, 11/15/02)

According to the findings of a study of residents of Singapore, China, a diet high in red meat increases the risk of developing colorectal cancer. The study, which was published in the Dec 1 issue of Cancer, involved 121 Chinese cancer patients and 222 healthy subjects. The participants filled out questionnaires that gathered data on their dietary habits for the previous 3 years. The researchers then analyzed their answers and concluded that the participants who ate diets high in meat and low on vegetables were most likely to contract colorectal cancer.
