Compounds Keep Disease Away: Study
(New York, Reuters Health, 9/10/02)
According to a study of 10,000 adults conducted by Dr. Paul
Knekt of the National Public Health Institute in Finland,
eating foods rich in flavonoids may reduce a person's risk of
dying from chronic illnesses, including lung cancer, stroke
and diabetes. Apples, which contain the flavonoid, quercitin,
showed the most notable protective effect. |
