Obesity Linked to Increased Risk of Stroke in Men
 (NY, Reuters Health, 12/10/02)

Based on the responses of 21,000 older men participating in the Physicians' Health Study over a period of 13 years, Dr. Tobias Kurth of Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and team, concluded that obese men are twice as likely to suffer a stroke, compared to their thinner peers. The researchers defined obesity in terms of Body Mass Index (BMI) which takes into account both height and weight.
