Oat Fiber May
Cut Need For Blood Pressure Meds
(New York, Reuters Health, 4/25/02)
At the University of Minnesota Medical School, Joel J. Pins
and colleagues found that volunteers with high blood pressure
lowered their pressure and cholesterol when they consumed 137
grams of oat cereal containing 12 grams of fiber daily. In
another study, this team used this regimen in a study of
people with untreated hypertension and again found decreases
in blood pressure and cholesterol. |
