Britain's Medicines Control Agency (MCA) is advising that Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) has no proven protective effect on the cardiovascular system and should not be recommended for women who have heart disease. While scientific studies on HRT's effects are conflicting, there is some indication that it may increase the risk of heart disease in the first year of use.
