Hormone Replacement Linked to Gallstone Risk

Dr. Andrew R. Hart of the University of East Anglia in Norwalk, UK and fellow researchers report that the risk of developing gallstones is 3 times greater for women on Hormone Replacement Therapy than it is for their peers. The researchers speculate that estrogen may promote stone formation by increasing the cholesterol in bile.
