Grapes' Anti-Fungal Agent May Fight Cancer Too

Professor Gerry Potter and fellow scientists at the School of Pharmacy at De Montfort University in Leicester, England report that the human enzyme CYP1B1 converts Resveratrol, a natural anti-fungal found in grapes, into piceatannol, an anticancer agent. This research group had previously shown that Riserveratrol conversion is selective and limits toxic effects because it occurs only within the cancerous tumors.
