"Good"
Bacteria Help Kids with Diarrhea
(New York, Reuters Health, 5/30/02)
When Dr. Vibcke Rosenfeldt of the University Clinic of
Pediatrics in Hvidovre, Denmark, and team studied 69 young
children who were hospitalized for diarrhea, they found that
patients treated with probiotics ("good" bacteria) had shorter
hospital stays than those receiving a placebo. They also noted
that those receiving probiotics were less likely to to show
signs of rotavirus infection. |
