Dr. Louis M. Staudt of the National Cancer Institute in
Bethesda, Maryland and an international research team studied
tissue samples taken from the tumors of patients who had the
most common adult form of cancer of the lymphatic system,
diffuse large-B-cell lymphoma. The researchers found that by
analyzing 17 of the genes in the tumors, they could predict
how well a particular patient would respond to chemotherapy
for the condition. |
