Folate Supplement May Reduce Cancer Risk
 (NY, Reuters Health, 7/18/02)

For 3 months, K. Khosraviani of Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, Ireland and colleagues had 6 patients with recurrent colon polyps take a daily 2-milligram dose of folate; while 5 patients took a placebo. When the researchers evaluated rectal tissue samples, they found a reduction of cell proliferation among those who were taking the folate, suggesting a decreased risk of developing cancer.
