Cancer Risk by Eating Less, Better
(New Orleans, Reuters Health, 4/23/02)
Dr. Volker Mai and fellow investigators at the US National
Cancer Institute report that mice that are susceptible to
intestinal cancer are less likely to develop pre-cancerous
colon polyps if they are fed diets low in calories or high in
olive oil, fruits and vegetables. According to the results of
their study, mice fed high-fat diets tend to grow the most
polyps. |
