Caffeine,
Even in Small Doses, May Hurt Arteries
(New York, Reuters Health, 5/17/02)
When researchers led by Dr. Charalambos Vlachopoulos of
Athens Medical School in Greece gave healthy subjects the
equivalent of the caffeine in one cup of coffee, their blood
pressure rose. The arteries of these subjects also temporarily
stiffened, decreaseing the body's ability to supply oxygen to
the heart. |
