Buzz on Cholesterol Lowering Beeswax is Promising

Virtually all waxy plant materials contain the long chain alcohol molecule, policosanol. Now the technical director of Hauser Inc. in Colorado, Rod Lenoble, has announced that he and his colleagues have extracted a cholesterol- lowering policosanol powder from beeswax. He says this substance is similar to the sugar cane wax that Cuban researchers claim lowers bad cholesterol (LDL) and raises HDL without harmful side effects. These claims for policosanol's cholesterol-lowering effect must undergo further independent verification in order to gain general scientific acceptance.
