Allergies
Linked to Panic Attacks, Study Finds
(New York, Reuters, 7/5/02)
According to a survey of 3000 Americans headed by Dr. Renee
Goodwin of Columbia University College of Physicians and
Surgeons in NY, hay fever sufferers are nearly twice as likely
to have had panic attacks than their peers. Goodwin theorizes
that either there is a common cause that makes a person
vulnerable to both conditions or that the difficulty in
breathing associated with allergies may induce panic attacks. |
