All Soy Lowers Cholesterol
 (HealthScoutNews, 7/25/02)

Dr. David Jenkins of the University of Toronto and colleagues put 23 men and 18 post-menopausal women, all of whom had high cholesterol, on 3 successive low-fat diets. The 3 food regimens, lasting one month each, were: (1) a control diet based on low-fat dairy and substitute eggs; (2) a high isoflavone soy diet; and (3) a low isoflavone soy diet. Both soy diets were associated with reductions in systolic blood pressure in men and improved cholesterol profiles for both sexes.
