Dr. Gary M. Onik, Director of the Center for Surgical Advancement, Florida Hospital, Celebration, Florida reports that focused cryosurgery, a freezing technique that can be done on an out-patient basis, may be a good option for some prostate cancer patients. This technique, which destroys the tumor by cooling it far below freezing, is not as likely to cause impotency as conventional surgery because it involves less nerve damage.
