Oregano Oil May Protect Against Drug-Resistant Bacteria
(Washington, DC, Georgetown University Medical Center, 2000)

When Dr. Harry G. Preuss of Georgetown University Medical Center, and team, exposed staphylococcus bacteria to oregano oil in a test tube, the researchers found that the oil inhibited the growth of the bacteria as effectively as conventional antibiotics. In addition, these scientists found that, in controlled studies that lasted 30 days, mice infected with staph bacteria were more likely to survive if they were given oregano oil than mice that were given either a placebo or carvacrol, a substance found in the oregano oil..
