Exposure to Solvents Can Raise Your Risk of Parkinson's

Two separate studies support the conclusion that environmental factors contribute to the development of Parkinson's Disease. Gian Pezzoli, MD, director of the Institute of Neuroscience at the Istituti Clinici di Perfezionamento in Milan, and fellow researchers studied nearly 1,000 Parkinson patients and linked exposure to hydrocarbon solvents at work with an increased risk of developing this degenerative disease; while Lorene Nelson, Phd, a neuroepidemiologist at Stanford University in California, found that exposure to toxic household chemicals, like pesticides, also heightened the risk.
